Welcome to Konrad Halls Centre, where we believe that a therapeutic and nurturing environment is the key to unlocking opportunities for every student. At Konrad Halls Centre, we prioritise not only academic achievement but also the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of our students.
The Centre is the base for EdAct’s therapeutic practice, led by Dr Jack Upton, the Trust’s Educational Psychologist. Under his direction we have a team of therapists whose work is focused on helping children to develop strategies in response to their social, emotional and mental health needs. The therapeutic team work with students at the Centre as well as supporting schools across the Trust.
The Centre is also the base of EdAct’s alternative education programmes. This provision enables a small group of young people to access a specialised blend of learning programmes including work experience, college-based and vocational courses, therapeutic intervention, and courses leading to GCSE qualifications. This tailored approach recognises that every student has a distinct journey, and so we have created an environment where students can benefit and thrive in a smaller setting supported by specialist staff.
The development of Konrad Halls Centre forms part of EdAct’s wider approach to inclusion and student wellbeing. Strategic oversight of this work is provided by Andrew Lloyd, Director of Student Wellbeing and Support Services, who leads the Trust’s work on SEND provision, mental health and therapeutic support. The alternative provision programmes at the Centre are led operationally by Nadia Younes, Director of Alternative Provision, who oversees the day-to-day development of the provision and works closely with schools to ensure that students are supported to re-engage successfully with education.
Students at the Centre experience a caring and supportive environment, while high expectations are instilled in all learners so that they feel safe and able to achieve success. Alongside an individualised curriculum, the Centre offers students a range of pathways through which they can flourish and achieve academically through GCSE and vocational routes.
We believe that education provides young people with the opportunity to change their lives for the better. We are proud to offer the Konrad Halls Centre to the community of the Borough of Enfield, as every child deserves the right to a future full of possibilities.
